You can easily distinguish traditional Chinese paintings among the varied styles of other works. It is not only because of its unique technique, but its lasting inborn charm expressed throughout the long tradition of Chinese history. Chinese painting embodies the qualities of character of the ancient Chinese and their search for beauty : simplicity, intuition, the contradiction between being and nothingness, and the search for the essence of the subject rather than its mere external representation. In brief, the finest quality of Chinese painting lies in its succinct way of pursuing the concept of the infinite. The spirit of modern China may be different from that of traditional Chinese painting, yet you can still get a general picture of the spiritual world of the ancient Chinese through the study and contemplation of Chinese painting.
